Installing Brick Pavers Over Sand
Once the compactor is ran over the pavers the brick pavers should settle and sit level with the string line.
Installing brick pavers over sand. As of now your project area is beginning to take shape with a solid prepared base. Spread dry paver joint sand or masonry sand over the surface of the paver area approximately 1 4 deep. The most important part of any brick paver installation is the compacting and preparation of the base aggregate and bedding sand. If there are any gaps between the pavers then you can sweep polymeric sand into all the joints.

Pour the sand across and between the conduits then drag a 2 x 4 foot board across the conduit to smooth and level the sand layer. Check it with a level. Run a tamper over the patio to set the bricks. Level these areas before moving on. Once the pavers are all placed according to pattern use a plate compactor to tamp the pavers into the sand.
Spread a thin layer of sand over the entire patio and use a push broom to work it into the gaps between pavers. Soak the patio with a gentle spray of water to help settle the sand into the gaps. Once all the pavers are installed run the plate compactor over them at least three times to ensure they are snugly pressed into the sand.
